  1. Hi,
I like your planks and wondering if/where the “war on drugs” fits in on the list.

I was hopeful of finding a group to work with who is committed to social justice and bringing about deep structural change in these critical times for our planet . I too was surprised to see that the number one plank for the group was property rights! In a group committed to 911 truth? What the hell is this about? As is the plank on limited government…sounds like neocon speak to me and not socially progressive.

    • Hi Frances, thank you for your comments and questions. Property rights are the cornerstone of any free society as a key foundational principle that protects the individual. A ‘right’ is in affect a sphere of action in which you can act and in which it would be morally wrong for anyone to interfere violently or with a threat of violence. Property rights allow you to be protected from force and coercion by the state whose very existence is to legislate its morality upon you.

For example, self-ownership and property rights require strict clarity regarding the question, who owns you? There are only two answers to this question, either you own yourself or someone else (another individual or group) owns you. Should you be able to decide what food you eat, the type of medicine you use, who you can marry, where you live, who you work for, what religious beliefs you have? The answer is yes, you decide, you’re an individual and it would be absolutely immoral for the government or some other individual to use force or violence against you to make you conform to their beliefs and way of life.

If you own your body then the government or state cannot morally use force against you unless you infringe on someone elses property rights. Property rights are also critical in terms of the environment. Property rights espouse that you cannot morally pollute your neighbors land, air, or water. Under common law judiciary any infringements would be tried in a court among a jury of your peers under property rights protection.

Property rights are simple and universal. Protection of property rights respect everyone regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, sexuality, income, education, mental/physical health, and lifestyle choice(s). I would say this is much more socially progressive than conservatism or marxism or any other form of ‘ism’. The distraction of labels such as ‘neo-lib’ and ‘neo-con’ are simply divide and conquer techniques that work against progressive thinkers.

Happy to share more thoughts any time you have questions.
